Date Night: Tyrone Wells in Concert

Tyrone Wells and Mark Chippelo

Ken and I after the concert... it was about midnight, and it shows on our faces

Ken and I went to my cousin Tyrone's concert at the Aladdin Theater November 11. We don't get out very often for date nights, but this one was totally worth it. My sister and one of her friends and our Aunt, Uncle, and a cousin were at the concert, too. It was fun to get to see some family we don't see too often. If you haven't heard of Tyrone Wells or listened to his music, check out: http://www.tyronewells.com

Last Monday we decided to take an impromptu visit to Winema beach, and have a little family adventure. Weslee did terrific on his first longer car ride, and was very excited to see everything when we walked to the beach. The excitement ended the second Ken put him down on the sand. He did not like the sand, and he did not like the ocean... so Weslee is not a fan of the beach just yet. Hopefully when he's a little older he'll enjoy running around and making sand castles. For now, it was a fun experience, and a learning experience for us for future trips. We headed down the coast to Newport after the beach, and had dinner at our favorite place, The Chowder Bowl. Weslee loved the restaurant, and enjoyed watching all the people. Hopefully we'll find more days where we can make little trips as a family.

almost 6 months

Time sure flies. It doesn't seem like it's been half a year since Weslee arrived. Just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital and carefully handling our fragile package, right? Our little guy is sure growing! He went to the doctor last week and weighed in at 17 1/2lbs! That's nearly triple his lowest weight- holy cow! He can now sit up on his own, and bear walk (hands and legs straight instead of knees) to move himself across the floor. He tries crawling when he really wants to be somewhere, but much prefers if mom and dad get things for him. He love his feet, and is usually playing with them in some way. Right now he's lounging next to me with his Ellie-Phant in his hands, clapping his feet together like a seal. He's deep in conversation with the toy, lol.
He still doesn't have any teeth that have broken through, but we noticed another little white bump almost where molars should be on the bottom right. Now we wonder if he's going to have a bunch of teeth all come in at once... poor kid.

We're looking forward to the 6-month appointment with the doctor to hear her opinion on how Weslee is doing. He's always been a little bit ahead developmentally. If crawling goes like sitting up, he may be doing it by 6 months. We're excited to see what he's going to do with his first solid food. I found a recipe for homemade brown rice cereal that I'm going to try since it's more healthy than processed white rice cereal.

Hopefully I'll keep up on blogging fairly regularly now that Weslee can kind of amuse himself for short periods of time.

tagged by crystal

I was tagged to do this survey-type thing by my friend Crystal over at Serving God and Family. If you haven't checked out her blog, you should do so!

Favorite person (outside family): I'm going to go with my friend Crystal, since she's the one I talk to the most :)

Favorite Food: I love the chocolate chip muffins that are in one of my earlier blogs. I am such a sucker for those carbs! I could cut out like everything else but those! I also loooove grapes.

Quirks about me: I'm a control freak... I don't know if that's quirky... but it's weird.

How would the person who loves you most describe you in ten words or less? "Funny, smart-alecky, intelligent, charismatic, caring, ambitious, friendly, sweet, loving" - Ken

Any regrets in life? There are things I regret and I'm definitely not proud of, but God has used them to change me and bring me closer to Him.

Favorite Cause/Charity: Since I don't want to copy Crystal's answer (you win, hands down) I'm going to say our Youth Group, since I really enjoy working with the kids.

Favorite Blog Recently: Serving God and Family

Something you can't get enough of: My husband. I love spending time with him!

Worst job you've ever had: I never had a really bad job.

What job would you pay NOT to have? Some of the stuff on "Dirty Jobs" would just make me sick.

If you could be a fly on a wall, where? I'm not big on listening in on other people. Sometimes I want to know what kind of theological discussions my hubby has with people, but that's more like a phone tap... can I do that instead?

Favorite Bible verse right now: 1 Peter 3

Guilty pleasure? Chocolate Chip Muffins

Got any confessions? I really need to do laundry, my kitchen isn't mopped, and I should probably run a load of dishes, too. Some housewife I am!

If you HAD to spend $1,000 on YOURSELF, how would you spend it? I'm not big on spending money. I'd probably put it in savings.

Favorite thing about your house? I love the vaulted ceiling. It makes it seem like we don't live in a tiny box.

Least favorite thing about your house? We've had quite a few spiders get in... yuck!

One thing you're bad at: Keeping the house clean. I clean it and hours later it's dirty again.

One thing you're good at: I'm going with cooking/baking. I have a culinary certificate for patisserie and baking, and I'm going to say I'm good at it because that's what other people tell me :)

If you would change one thing about your circumstances, what? I would have us be financially stable.

Who would you like to meet someday? Hopefully a baby... And God, of course!

What makes you feel sexy? My husband

Who is your real life hero? My husband

What is the hardest part of your job? Staying focused.

When are you most relaxed? When I'm asleep! I don't think I'm even capable of relaxing when I'm awake

What stresses you out? Pretty much everything. I'm getting better though.

What can you not live without? My Salvation- my pastor just spoke about this today, about being content with Jesus' sacrifice for us, and how nothing else matters.

Do you agree or disagree with the recent article that reported that blogs are authored by narcissists? Some are probably narcissists, others are not.

Why do you blog? I wanted something easy for people to keep up with me, and where I can post writings for others to read.

I'm supposed to tag:
Two Newish Bloggers: I'm pretty much the newest blogger I know...

Two Blog Friends: Joanne at The Zarzana Family and my sister Meredith at Branching Out

Two Bloggers I'd Like To Know Better: CeCe at Blind Faith Bruises
